Hi, I’m Jan Barcosky-Bench, a professionally trained and certified Interior Redesign Specialist.  I have arranged and rearranged rooms for as long as I can remember!  As a decorating junkie, my philosophy is ‘a room is never finished’.  I can always find something to rearrange, something to add, something to simply move to another location.  I love the whole process of taking a mediocre room and finding the fabulous gem that’s waiting to be discovered. 

As a young bride married to a college student, money was tight and a decorating budget was not possible.  I learned early on how to find a bargain or how to recreate and revive a castaway item using little or no money.  That was several decades ago and to this day, one of my greatest pleasures is bargain shopping!  I love the thrill of flea markets, thrift stores and consignment shops and finding a treasure that someone else threw away. 

With an interest in interior decorating, fueled by a creative mother, I have taken several interior design courses throughout the years, but never actively pursued this avenue as anything more than a hobby.  I have a background in the legal field and a degree in Organizational Management, and after several years in the Orlando area, my husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to fulfill a lifelong dream and move to the beautiful horse country area of northwest Marion County in Florida.  I gave up my legal position in Orlando to be home full time and begin the fun process of decorating our fabulous 4000 sq. ft. house.  The more I decorated, the more I loved it!  Watching HGTV one day I saw a segment on Decorating Cents which featured an interior redesign.  I did some research and found the website for IRIS, Interior Redesign Industry Specialists, and knew immediately that I had found my future.

In November, 2005 I completed the Interior Redesign Certification course in Jacksonville, with instructor Barbara Bain, where I learned to effectively and creatively implement the principles of what I had been doing all my life.  As a member of IRIS, I am a part of the premier Redesign Association in the industry, with over 500 members across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.
